The author this month for Virtual Book Club for Kids is Mem Fox. Now Mem Fox has many wonderful books, so it was hard to choose one, but since this year we hatched ladybugs and have been focusing a bit on them, I thought Yoo-Hoo Ladybug! was the perfect one to share. Plus the bonus that Hazel LOVES reading it. Of course she also LOVES looking for the hidden ladybug on the pages.
For those people that do not know about the Virtual Book Club for Kids, we are a group of blogs that present a book by the chosen author of the month with a craft or activity to go with the book and host a blog hop for all of us to add ours and for you to be able to add to if you have an activity or craft to go with a book by the selected author. Now back to Yoo-Hoo Ladybug! This book is a very simple book which is also helping with Hazel's reading progress. The same words are written on every few pages. The best part of the book is that the reader needs to look for the hidden ladybug in the pictures. Hazel loves hidden pictures and such so she loves this book.
We made a simple ladybug craft with some glass beads for vases. We took our black paint marker and colored heads, antennae, wing line and dots. On a couple we tried adding a head of a small pom pom, but we decided we liked the drawn ones better.
