We have been enjoying a very busy week with our Christmas celebrations. Have you? However we have found some time for crafting! Today we are sharing Hands-on Bible Craft Book by Christina Goodings.

http://www.kregel.com/childrens-activities/hands-on-bible-craft-book-1704/

The book includes fourteen crafts and two recipes to go along with popular Bible stories. It is perfect for learning about the Bible at home or church (or a religious school). The cover shows three of the crafts: Noah and the rainbow (near the top of the sail), Moses and the frogs, and Fishers of men. We decided to try Gifts for a king.
The idea of this craft is to use containers from the recycling container to make the boxes that the Magi would have brought the frankincense, myrrh and gold in to Baby Jesus. We used a recycled creamer bottle and two unfinished boxes that we have had for awhile. The round one is from Shindigz and we finally got around to decorating it. We painted the heart box and creamer bottle. We used sparkly paper on the round box. Then we used glitter washi tape and glued on various craft gems. Hazel had a lot of fun making these crafts. She planned on using them in the pageant that she planned with my family members. She planned one last Christmas as well. Both years she planned it and it didn't happen, but this year we added the Magi's gifts to the props. The two boxes can also be used as prayer boxes too. It was a fun and easy craft!

We plan to try some more of the crafts in the book, but have not gotten to them yet. The book covers both the Old and New Testaments and has some great ideas to connect to some popular stories. Our only disappointment is there is not one for the story of Esther (Hazel's Bible favorite). The instructions in the book are clear and well pictured. There are templates on the back of the book in various colors. It is a bit hard to copy them, but they work. This is the perfect book for a Sunday School teacher or Christian family!
