On Monday, I introduced my New Year Resolution/Goal Review Series. Today I am sharing my second resolution which is to find joy in my everyday life and happiness with what I have. Storey Publishing sent me the perfect book to help me succeed with this goal for 2016: Joy in Every Moment by Tzvia Gover.
This book provides short readings about joy and various every day activities and then provides short mindful exercises to help the reader find joy. One suggestion is to have a journal to record some of the exercises. I jumped at this one since I have not kept a journal in awhile. I found the perfect journal to help me focus on joy. I bought it at my job at Paper Source.
These exercises help the reader focus on the positive in life and practicing them helps the reader deal with the negatives of life in a more positive way. Happiness is up to each individual. No one can make you happy or unhappy. It is up to you on how you choose to react to a negative or a person. This book helps you have strategies to look for the positive ways and to let go of the negativity and stress.

I know mindfulness is a hot topic these days. This book is the real deal. It offers ideas of meditation with exercises that just get you thinking in a bit of a different way. Life will always have good and bad moments, but this book helps you take the bad with grace and find a bit of good in them. After all that is all we can really do to have joy. An added bonus is mindful exercises often help keep us present in our moments. They help our minds be ready for the structure of the day. I know when Hazel and I the guided imagery lessons it really helped her focus on getting out the door and to school. It improved her days and back then it was a big thing for her.
So join me on my search and let us find joy in our lives! It is there if we want it.
