Have you heard about Jumpstart's Read for the Record? Tomorrow, October 27, 2016, is their 11th annual one. It is a program that was started to address educational inequities that leave too many kids unprepared for kindergarten. They have millions of people read the same book on the same day so it is the world's largest shared reading experience. This year's book is The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach.

In this fun book the narrator tells the story of how a bear ended up eating someone's sandwich when it was left on a bench in a park. The story tells about the bear's entire day and how he ended up in the park in the city. And it has a very fun ending. It definitely is a tale of someone telling a tall tale. The pictures are fun and it is a fun story to see the bear explore the new "forest" that we call a city.

Read for the Record shares activity sheets for families, classrooms and events to go with this fun book. There are also downloadable sign-in sheets, posters, stickers and more! There is even a place to read the book on-line for free.
To go with the story we made bear ears for Hazel.
Hazel had fun with the ears and the book.

There are so many resources including a YouTube Video to read along with the book!!
