This month I have been working many weekends at the store. Hazel has been missing me quite a bit, so this weekend I devoted time to spend with her when I was not working. She wanted to have a pretend sleepover in our family room, so she set up her sleeping bags and made a pretend pizza and snacks. Then we played a card game and decided to do some crafts. She had gotten as a gift The Fairy Kit

Hazel had started the fairy necklace by herself, but got stuck a bit on it, so I suggested we try some of the crafts together at our sleepover. She loved the idea. I helped her get more of the necklace done and taught her how to really braid. The instructions said to cut a piece of the pink thread but there was not a pink thread in the bag for this craft. Each craft had its own bag of supplies. We also made the fairy bed and the fairy.
For the fairy the instructions said to use the red thread for the hair, but there was no red and Hazel wanted to use brown so we pulled out some brown embroidery thread from our collection. Since I used half a skein and had more cut we also made another fairy using our own supplies including a doll head bead with a face on it and a blue Gerber daisy for the dress.

Hazel next did the fairy doors. She loved the idea of them and struggled with where to put them. (She received a fairy door for her birthday as well that is in her bedroom for Princess Ella to visit and leave her notes.)

She decided to make fairy houses out of shoe boxes and put the doors to Fairyland in the houses. She did this completely on her own.

Aren't they cute? The crafts are relatively easy to do and come with all the supplies you need. It is a fun kit for young girls who love fairies!!

Now my other idea was inspired by Handcrafted Rustic Wire Heart Garland shared last week by Purple Hues and Me
http://www.plumperfectandme.com/2017/01/handcrafted-rustic-wire-heart-garland.html

I wanted to do something like this with materials we have and that Hazel could do on her own if she wanted to. I looked at our supplies and found some pipe cleaners and heart shaped pony beads. I got them at Dollar Tree. I started by making a garland alternating between purple and pink pipe cleaners and threw in a couple of red striped ones as well. I hung it by our entry.

To make the hearts I stuck two pipe cleaners through one bead. Then I added another bead to both pipe cleaners and twisted the ends to make loops. I shaped the loops into hearts and then added pipe cleaners through each of the beads that only had one pipe cleaner through it and added a bead to that one and made a loop. I kept repeating until I was out of the silver heart beads. Then I thought of decorating a battery operated pillar candle. I did some measuring and decided on three hearts for the candle.
Hazel wants to make some now too, but she hasn't taken the time to do it yet.
